Stuttgart sees solemn award ceremony in well filled “Wagenhallen”

On Wednesday, September 29th, the Fintech Germany Awards were presented for the sixth time. Awards in five categories and three special prizes were festively presented to founders and C-level representatives of the outstanding fintechs, celebrated by almost 200 guests.

In the „Seed Stage“ category the start-up CashOnLedger from Cologne was able to prevail against a large number of competitors in the. The second place went to Banxware, while Airbank took the third place in this category – both firms headquartered in Berlin. In the “Early Stage” category, the Frankfurt based start-up Cashlink secured the first place, ahead of Arabesque and Moonfare.

The “Later Stage” category was dominated by companies from Berlin: Nuri (formerly known as Bitwala) took the helm ahead of Fraugster and Elinvar. And the German (start-up) capital was also in the lead in the “Growth Stage” category, in which Mambu took the top position, with Solarisbank and Raisin DS as runner ups.

FQX from Zurich was recognized in the categorie „Best Foreign Entrant to Germany“. Sumup (London) became second and Qonto (Paris) came in third. The special award for „Insurtech“ went to Clark Germany from Frankfurt, while Tangany from Munich and Remagine from Berlin secured the special awards  for “Investment Technology” and “Sustainable Finance”.

Michael Mellinghoff, Managing Director of Techfluence UK, co-initiator of the award as well as co-chair of the jury comments: “This year’s award winners prove that the fintech industry in Germany has grown out of its infancy and is becoming even more professional. A huge thank you to all the members of the FTGA jury who analysed and rated around 200 fintech companies in countless hours.“ Franz Công Bùi, Head of Online at  Börsen-Zeitung and also co-chair of the jury, emphasized: “The winners, but also all the other applicants illustrate the diversity of the fintech scene in Germany and internationally.”

The 24 strong top class jury selected a shortlist of 44 fintech from around 200 applications based on a  scoring system and then determined the winners in the different categories.

The FTGA is the leading award for fintech companies in Germany and is awarded by Frankfurt Main Finance e.V., Techfluence UK and WM Gruppe / Börsen-Zeitung. All information can be found at http://fintechgermanyaward.de/ and on Twitter: @FintechGermany.

This year „FTGA goes Ländle“ was the motto for Fintech Germany Award as it was celebrated in Stuttgart. Due to the pandemic, like in the previous year, the ceremony was designed as a hybrid event.

Future editions of Fintech Germany Award are planned to take place in more German cities in order to further strengthen Germany’s financial center as a fintech location. The event was moderated by Bianca Lopes, CEO of Talle, a global media group that supports banks and fintechs in transformation and innovation processes.
