For weeks, the jury categorized, analyzed and evaluated the 118 candidates for this year's Fintech Germany Awards, which initially resulted in the shortlist of 38 candidates, from which the winners were then chosen in a final jury session:

Seed Stage

1. Bunch technology 2. Sinpex 3. Nelly Solutions

Early Stage

1. Hawk:AI 2.Bitbond 3. Wealthpilot

Growth / Late Stage

1. Mambu 2. Solaris 3. Moonfare

Most Promising Startup in Germany

1. Descartes Underwriting 2. Qonto 3. Teylor

Sustainable Finance

1. ESG Book

Insurtech

1. Neodigital

The winners are from Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Neunkirchen and Paris, with the Berlin fintech ecosystem being ahead of the Munich ecosystem when taking into account also the runner-ups.

In the combined Growth/Late Stage category, all 3 places even were awarded to Berlin candidates, while the category Most Promising International Startup in Germany was dominated this year by France: the winner and the runner-up are both headquartered in Paris.

Almost as expected, candidates who had been on the podium at the Fintech Germany Award in previous years were able to assert themselves in the Late/Growth category. Mambu won the FTGA for the second time already. As did Hawk:AI, who won the special awrd for Artificial Intelligence in 2020.

The award winners were honored on December 7, 2022 at the Allianz Forum in Berlin as part of a nearly 2-hour ceremony in the presence of Berlin's Senator for Economic Affairs, Stephan Schwarz. A highlight was the founder keynote by Wilhelm von Boddien, the initiator and driving force behind the reconstruction of the Berlin Palace. The Palace hosts the Humboldt Forum and can now be visited  a short walk from Brandenburg Gate.

The seventh edition of the FTGA was once again hosted with a lot of charm by Nektarios Liolios, a London fintech veteran, entrepreneur and recently also a fintech founder himself with Radish Credit, and for the first time hosted splendidly by Sarah Yvonne Elsser, a moderator from Mainz who specializes in tech, and who is a founder herself of a company called Tech Well Told.

The award ceremony took place in the Allianz Forum – courtesy of this year’s main sponsor Allianz X, the digital investments arm of Allianz - on Pariser Platz in Berlin. Almost 200 guests were able to enjoy the after party with a fantastic view of Brandenburg Gate in the lounges on the 4th floor.
